Four Major Cancer Screenings: Explanation of Cervical Smear Test
The cervical smear test is the best approach for preventing cervical cancer. Through this examination, it is possible to identify infections, inflammations, abnormal cells, or the potential occurrence of cancer in the cervix.
The cervical smear test involves collecting cervical cells that have been shed from the cervix from vaginal secretions. After staining the smear, suspicious cancer cells can be detected under a microscope. Once any abnormalities are discovered, further examinations such as colposcopy and cervical biopsy can be performed to establish a diagnosis.
