Femtosecond laser
The femtosecond laser utilizes unique optical energy and segmented micrometer laser beams to deliver energy output. The laser beam heats and damages tissues, reaching the dermis and allowing the injured tissues to naturally repair and form new, healthy tissue. The results of this regeneration can improve skin texture and scar conditions.
Precautions before treatment:
- Pregnant women, individuals with photosensitive skin, and those with infected wounds should be assessed by a physician.
- Laser treatment is not suitable for individuals experiencing skin dryness, sunburn, allergies, or other skin problems.
- Stop using products with exfoliating properties such as fruit acids, retinoids, exfoliants, SK-II, etc., two weeks prior to treatment, and avoid excessive sun exposure.
Post-treatment care:
- Immediately after treatment, the skin may experience a burning sensation, slight redness, or tightness, which usually improves or disappears within 24 hours after applying cold compresses.
- Redness is a temporary phenomenon that typically subsides within 2-3 days. Thin scabs will start to form at the treatment site within 7-10 days. Avoid picking or scratching the scabs to prevent scarring. After the scabs have completely fallen off, you can use reparative skincare products and start practicing sun protection (the formation of scabs varies from person to person).
- Refrain from excessive alcohol consumption, spicy foods, hot springs, and intense exercise for three days after the procedure to facilitate the reduction of redness.
- Within the first week after treatment, the skin may become dry, so use gentle skincare and increase the use of moisturizing products such as hyaluronic acid, moisturizing creams, and reparative products.
- After scab formation and scab removal, it is necessary to enhance sun protection. Apply sunscreen immediately after washing your face in the morning, with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30-50 or higher, and minimize exposure to sunlight to prevent hyperpigmentation.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q1: How many treatments are generally needed, and how long should the intervals be?
Due to the deeper penetration of the femtosecond laser treatment, it is recommended to wait for at least one month before the second treatment. Typically, noticeable results can be observed after approximately 3-4 sessions. It is suggested to consider increasing the number of treatments based on individual satisfaction after about 4-6 sessions.
Q2: Does the femtosecond laser treatment cause pain?
Numbing cream is applied before the treatment, so you may experience a stinging sensation during the procedure. Most people can tolerate it, and post-treatment swelling and discomfort can be alleviated with cold compresses.
Q3: How many days should I rest at home after undergoing femtosecond laser treatment?
Femtosecond laser treatment is very convenient in terms of care. Redness is usually less noticeable the next day, and by the third day, the skin will only have small scabs that are barely noticeable unless observed closely. You can use tinted sunscreen or foundation to conceal them, and you can resume normal work or school activities after the treatment.
