Liberty Times Report: "Medical Vanguard" Prioritizes Patient Respect and Professionalism - Chen Zi-liang, Director of China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital, Promotes Integrated Medicine
[Reporter Liao Xue-ru/Report from Hsinchu] The concept of managing a hospital can be likened to a sports field! Chen Zi-liang, the director of China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital and an avid basketball enthusiast, applies the management principles of a basketball court to respect the expertise of medical and administrative staff. He strives to establish internationally renowned integrated Chinese and Western medicine and provide patient-centered medical services and care.
Outstanding in Colorectal Surgery - Minimally Invasive Surgery Preserves Anus in up to 95% of Cases
Chen Zi-liang is an outstanding colorectal surgeon in Taiwan. Leading a medical team, he has achieved a success rate of up to 95% in preserving the anus through 3D laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery, resulting in smaller wounds and faster patient recovery. Through organizing international forums on colorectal surgery, he enhances the professionalism of physicians and spares no expense in introducing advanced medical equipment such as the da Vinci 4th generation Xi robotic arm and positron emission tomography equipment to safeguard the health of local residents.
When talking about himself, Chen Zi-liang may be different from other physicians because pursuing a medical career was never his life choice. After graduating from high school, he was forced to return to Taiwan to study medicine and struggled initially due to not understanding Chinese. However, he continuously practiced the motto of life: "If you fall, get up again," believing that success will eventually come.

Leading the Medical Team with the Concept of Managing a Sports Field
When China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital was established, Chen Zi-liang led 40 physicians from Taichung to settle in Zhubei. As a basketball enthusiast since his student days, he laid the foundation of the team from scratch using the concept of a sports field. Within the framework of basic rules, he respects everyone's expertise, grants full authorization, and allows for mistakes, enabling the natural manifestation of the team's energy.
Despite his busy schedule, Chen Zi-liang still finds time for exercise to maintain his physical fitness.Apart from basketball, he regularly engages in weight training and plays golf. He believes that hitting the golf ball into the hole is not easy at all, and the logical thinking and decisive actions before swinging the club are as important as strategies in life's journey.
"Do not do unto others what you would not want others to do unto you" - Emphasizing the Spirit of Altruism
Confucius said, "What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others." Chen Zi-liang has adopted "Do unto others what you would want others to do unto you" as his life philosophy, following the practical human nature of seeking benefits for oneself while allowing the spirit of altruism to flourish.
Due to the long-standing shortage of medical resources in the Hsinchu area, China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital has established cancer centers, stroke centers, cardiovascular centers, pediatric development assessment centers, positron emission tomography centers, and more since its opening over four years ago.

Chen Zi-liang expects that China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital will uphold the mission of "Urgency, Compassion, Life-saving, and Brain-saving," prioritize patients, create a friendly and intelligent hospital environment, and aim to become an international medical center, striving for excellence in medical services, education, and research.
