Allergy Immunology and Rheumatology

About Us
Whether it's allergic diseases or immune rheumatic disorders, the pathogenesis is all due to the dysregulation of the body's immune system, leading to acute and chronic inflammation of organ tissues. Because the inflammation of organs is caused by immune system dysfunction, the manifestations of diseases in the field of allergy, immunology, and rheumatology are diverse. Although they are the same diseases, the severity of clinical symptoms varies, and the affected organs may not be the same, resulting in considerable differences in each patient's condition. This often confuses both patients and physicians, leading patients to seek consultations with specialists from multiple departments before eventually being referred to the allergy, immunology, and rheumatology department.
With advances in molecular biology and immunology, physicians in the field of allergy, immunology, and rheumatology are increasingly understanding the pathogenesis of various rheumatic diseases and why the immune system operates abnormally. Also, because of the understanding of the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases, the development of drugs for treating these diseases has advanced rapidly. Medications for controlling the symptoms and inflammation of rheumatic diseases have progressed from steroids and oral anti-rheumatic drugs that inhibit the growth of inflammatory cells to biologic agents that regulate the transmission of inflammatory signals and inhibit the growth of inflammatory cells, and to small molecule targeted drugs that target intracellular signaling pathways in inflammatory cells.
