The emergency department serves as the most direct gateway between the hospital and society. It is also where various critical and severe conditions are most likely to be treated. In addition to treating medical emergencies for adults, women, and children, the emergency department deals with a wide range of issues such as fights, domestic violence, suicide attempts, poisoning, sexual assault, child abuse, alcoholism, and drug addiction. Therefore, the emergency department must collaborate with social service units, home care services, law enforcement agencies, and health authorities to establish standardized operating procedures and harness the power of the community to maintain social stability.

To enhance pre-hospital emergency medical care capabilities, our emergency department's attending physicians serve as medical guidance physicians for the fire departments of Hsinchu County and Hsinchu City. They are responsible for training pre-hospital emergency medical personnel, developing standard operating procedures for emergency care, conducting quality control and assessments of emergency services. By extending medical influence to every household through these efforts, we believe that we can deliver better healthcare quality to the residents of Hsinchu County and City.
